It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, and WOW, life has changed a lot since the last time I wrote anything here. The last time I actually wrote something and published a post, it was early January.
The pandemic was at it’s height, members of congress were the only people who could get vaccinated and I was very concerned that I had COVID (my toes were all red, which is a real symptom of COVID) and I was getting tested and quarantining myself and watching all of Gentleman Jack.
It snowed in January, and the snow caused us to have a delayed start in virtual school because Mississippi, so I took the opportunity to walk around my neighborhood and document how ridiculous palm trees look with snow on them.

February hit, there was an ice storm in Jackson, and a tree limb fell on my house and knocked out the power, and our water went out for two weeks.

I was very grateful that the only casualty of this situation was my trash can.

Melting ice to flush the toilet was one of many examples of the resourcefulness that the water situation pushed all of us to.

In March, I finally got vaxxed up, and we found out that we would be reopening school in a hybrid model at the beginning of April.

In April, we went hiking in Arkansas, and it was wonderful.

In June, I went to Detroit and visited home for the first time since Christmas 2019. I missed them a lot and it was really good to be home.

In June, I moved to Nashville, and honestly, I have zero pictures to show that, so instead, here is a picture of the funky pasta I ate on my first night in my new place here.
In August, school started (fully in-person!) and I sold my house in Mississippi.

My life now looks nothing like I expected seven months ago.
